Why We Exist

On November 22, 2010, Becca suddenly and tragically lost her life to a horrible vehicle/pedestrian accident and the world lost an amazing young lady. It is impossible to write her entire story here as even though her life was a short 19 years, it was incredibly full.

Becca was born in Florida in 1991. She was very active and enjoyed taking part in dance, gymnastics, water skiing, and her favorite activity – fast pitch softball, which she played for over ten years. As an avid college football fan, she loved game day and tailgating with her friends. She was a sophomore at Florida State University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business.

Becca believed that you get out of life what you put into it and she made it a point to be involved in her community, with her friends, and with her family. She was funny, outgoing, loud and silly, but she also had a serious side and held two jobs while attending college.

Even with everything going on in her life, Becca could always find time for her friends and family. She lived life to the fullest and had a smile that would light up a room. Her left hand sported a smiley face tattoo (like the one we use for our logo) – how appropriate for a young lady who is missed so much for her smile!

It is with pride we continue Becca’s love of life and provide opportunities for others to live life to the fullest, whether it be through encouragement of community involvement or bringing families together to spread smiles and
create memories that last beyond a lifetime.

Remember, Smile, Remember

As a family, we have experienced firsthand the loss of a young life and we know how important it is to keep memories alive and to honor our loved one. It has been our experience that bringing people together whether it is in honor of the life lost or just to make memories as a family, is not only a healing time but one of great importance. After all, our countless memories are what we all refer back to in times of happiness as well as in times of sorrow.

We want kids to play hard, families to enjoy each other, and the world to smile. We never know when those opportunities will be gone forever so the Because of Becca Foundation is striving to make those opportunities available through supporting youth sports organizations and camps, providing family-friendly events for parents and kids to laugh together, and by spreading smiles any way we can – we call them “Becca smiles” and are willing to share them with anybody who wants them.
